Ultrasound Workshops
In addition to the premium emergency medicine lectures, EIM is offering two unique, hands-on POCUS workshops.
RUSH PROTOCOL:
The differential diagnosis of patients in shock is broad. It’s easy to be anchored to sepsis however this is not always the cause. Approaching your unstable patient’s resuscitation using ultrasound makes you more accurate in your next steps and also crosses off “can’t miss” conditions such as AAA, DVT, intraperitoneal hemorrhage, tamponade, and RV strain. The RUSH protocol, or Rapid Ultrasound in Shock, is a simple stepwise approach to the Pump, Tank, and Pipes that is easy to remember during your next hypotensive patient. This session will start with a brief lecture, followed by ample hands-on time to master the windows on several standardized patients.
SPACEFLIGHT POCUS:
As space tourism continues to evolve, an organized methodology for point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) use is advised to best prepare astronauts for space. Ultrasound is one of the few diagnostic and therapeutic modalities available for astronauts in space. However, while POCUS is available and historically has been used for research, there is no current standard of training for astronaut preparation. This is the first Spaceflight Point-of-Care Ultrasound (SPOCUS©) course developed by national leaders in radiology, space medicine, and POCUS.
This course will include a keynote lecture about the past, present, and future of space flight ultrasound coupled with a hands-on course led by industry leaders in this field. Hands-on content will include dedicated time for the evaluation of: Deep Vein thrombosis; ocular ultrasound; pulmonary ultrasound; and bladder/renal ultrasound. Focused on the most pertinent hands-on in-flight emergencies, this one-of-kind course is sure to be a new industry standard.
*During the registration process, you’ll have the option to select one or both Ultrasound Workshops – space is limited so be sure to sign up now*
